AYO National Music Camp – Orchestral Management Program

Many thanks to Elissa Seed, my team mates and everyone on camp for a wonderful learning experience in the Orchestral Management Programme at Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp, in Canberra, 2-17 Jan 2016. It’s broadened my horizons no end and I can’t wait to apply the new skills and knowledge!

Empire Theatre’s Production of ‘Mary Poppins’

From March through June, I was busily involved as a repetiteur/orchestral keyboardist with Empire Theatre (Toowoomba)’s production of the ever popular ‘Mary Poppins’, working under Director/Choreographer Alison Valette and Musical Director Lorraine Fuller.  It was such an exciting project to be part of, and all of the shows were excellently received – visit Stage Whispers to read a review and see some beautiful photos from the show!

Adam Summer School, Nelson, New Zealand

In February 2015 I had the privilege of participating in New Zealand String Quartet’s Adam Summer School, held in Nelson, South Island New Zealand, from 7-15 February 2015.   Each year this chamber music course brings approximately 30 of New Zealand’s talented young string players and pianists together to rehearse and perform significant chamber music works from the 19th and 20th centuries.  I collaborated with Anna (violin) and Dominic (cello) Lee on Shostakovich’s Piano Trio no. 2 in E minor, Op. 67, performing the entire work in the final concert in the lovely Old St John’s on Sunday 15 February 2015.  Thankyou to Diedre Irons and the New Zealand String Quartet for your excellent coaching and to those who organised and hosted the summer school.  Another highlight of the time in Nelson was performing in a masterclass with international concert pianist Kathryn Stott and attending several of the performances of the 2015 Adam Chamber Music Festival.

Toowoomba Open House – Art Song recital with Shantelle Shore

On 18 October 2014, Shantelle Shore, soprano, accompanied by Maree Kilpatrick presented an Art Song recital at the Royal Bull’s Head Inn in Drayton, for the opening of the Toowoomba Open House Festival of Architecture.  A quaint and richly historical setting to perform in, dating contemporary to 19th century romantic composers of the repertoire we performed.

Clarinet, Viola and Piano Recital at Taabinga Homestead

On Saturday 20 September 2014, Martin Crook (clarinet), Elizabeth Lawrence (viola) and Maree Kilpatrick (piano) presented an afternoon recital at the beautiful Taabinga Homestead, near Kingaroy in SE Queensland.  The concert featured Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio and clarinet/viola duo, Bruch’s 8 Pieces for the trio, and ‘All of Me’, a piano solo composed by Jon Schmidt of the Piano Guys.  Thanks Colin Marshall and Libby Leu-Marshall for your kind hospitality – it’s such a beautiful setting to perform – tucked away in the bush, tranquil and peaceful.
