Douglas Lilburn Trust Composition Competition

On 27 October 2017, I performed as part of the ensemble for a piece by New Zealand composer Linda Dallimore, ‘Personified River: Whanganui’, which received second place in the Douglas Lilburn Trust Composition Competition.  It was a fantastic piece in its use of extended technique on all instruments, evoking the essence of the Whanganui River.  Visit here to see a video recording of the performance.

Twilight Recital / Premier of Michael Bakrnchev’s ‘Streams of Silver’

On 25 October 2017 Nicola Hayden (flute), Matthew Henry (cello) and myself performed as the USQ Alumni Trio, in the Twilight Recital Series in the University of Southern Queensland’s Arts Theatre.  The highlight of the programme was a world premiere of ‘Streams of Silver’ by composer Michael Bakrnchev commissioned to commemorate USQ’s anniversary – 50 years in higher education and 25 years as a university.

Poulenc Sextet

In semester 2, I had the opportunity of collaborating in Poulenc’s Sextet for Piano and Winds.  Our performers included Shayne Harris (flute, Perth), Noah Rudd (oboe), Alex Eichelbaum (clarinet), Ben Hoadley (bassoon) and Anita Austin (French horn).  We were privileged to be coached by both Ben Hoadley and flautist Eric Lamb.
